Have you ever been to a meeting that you didn’t know anyone in attendance? It can be very scary and awkward. For some, it can seem just as scary as going to the dentist!
The first charity walk committee meeting can be just as scary for new members. It is important that there is a way for each member to quickly participate, have fun, and start building relationships with the other team members.
There are many ice breakers that can be used to get everyone having a great time and to encourage talking with each other. One simple one is to have each member tell why he or she chose to be involved in this special event. There are many possible reasons to participate. Here are just a few:
- Personal connection with the cause
- Wants to make a difference
- Asked by a friend
- Earn credits for school
- Learn and practice a new skill
As each person describes why they are involved, write it down. It is likely to provide important clues about the best role the person can contribute and how to best motivate and recognize the person.
Start the planning for your next charity walk off right. Find ways to help your committee members to work together as a team and be excited about their contributions. Make your next charity walk the best event ever!
Thanks,

As a first timer, I agree that so it is so scary, because you don’t know what to do and how to deal with it.

I am lucky to been a part of charity works conducted by an NGO group which I belong. Its really good to the heart and healthy to the soul helping others in times of needs. And I am proud to the group for their undying love and support to the humanity. Long live!!!
Maybe you’ll get nervous at first… We can’t help it, there is always fear in every first time… But later I know this charity walk will be enjoyable as well.

At a recent hospital-planning meeting, the marketing director reports on consumer interest in a women’s health center. Hearing string interest, the planning committee endorses the concept. A group of clinicians is charged with developing the program. Upon introduction, market response does not meet expectations. A senior physician was heard to complain, “What went wrong? We did the survey.” Explain the possible reasons for this program’s failure.
I am proud of your not scare..Maybe in the first time your scare but after that your ok now..

I’m planning a charity walk/run and I don’t know how to fundraise for it, publicize it, or which sponsors I should get and what the sponsors should provide. Any help please?

It is very awkward at first, that’s why I turn down every invitation my friends do when they want me to go to meetings and seminars – especially if they want me to go there alone. At least if you have someone you know come with you, you don’t feel so left out.

The is one of the worst feelings – being in the situation where you don’t know anyone! Listing the ice breakers that you have is sure to have a positive impact on many people who find themselves in this situation! Big thumbs up!
